“If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is compromise.”~Anais Nins
Today I Made A Revolutionary Discovery… I Have Been Lying To Myself All This Time…
What I had Told Myself I Truly Wanted Was Not What I Wanted At All...
It Was Only When I Started Thinking With My Heart, And Not My Head That My Life Started To Really Change…
About five months ago I decided to take a leap of faith and jump into digital marketing… Literally... That picture you see? That’s when I decided I was going to do it!
Somewhere in that 60 second free fall is when I decided I was going to make my dream of becoming an entrepreneur a reality.
At first I did it to prove a point; that I could make it work. And I am... I'm applying the skill set I've learned from my mentors who have built 6 & 7 figure businesses online to position me for the same success.
I told myself that it was a way of fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine to become an entrepreneur… The truth is, I’ve always wanted that. Ever since I can remember I’ve dreamt up business ideas.
I told myself that I wanted it because I wanted to be financially independent… That’s also true. I consider myself to be strong and independent… Rah, rah, rah...girl power all the way!
I told myself that I wanted it so I could leave my current job… I have many aspirations and time freedom is definitely one of them..
I told myself that I wanted to travel the world. Wouldn’t it be lovely to sip tea, or coffee, or wine in the most magical of places? It’s all so romantic.
Then I told myself to stop trying to rationalize everything and get stuff done! And you know what? My life changed. I realized I was spending time coming up with ways to justify to other people what I was doing and why I wanted to do it. The truth is, I don't have to justify anything to anyone.
Millions of people are building businesses from home and depending how far and fast they want to grow, they choose a business model that best suits their desires.
In fact, the digital marketing industry is expected to rise to $6.5 Billion by 2020.
Hello! Mama needs a new pair of shoes! 💃👠
I didn’t want to make pocket change here and there. I craved time and financial freedom so I started looking for something that would help me achieve the results I wanted. The result was aligning with a company that would teach me the skills necessary to grow my business online. By leveraging social media I share the business model I’m learning with others who also want learn valuable digital marketing skills. These skills can be then used to advertise either our products, or your own products or skills.
It’s kinda like a business-in-box. Only online.
Because our company offers high commissions and a variety of products, I wasn’t stuck having to sell a million-gazillion little things before I was able to see the financial benefits. And I wasn’t confined to relying on friends or family to help me realize my entrepreneurial dreams. It also meant the initial investment was a little higher but if you want to stay small, you play small.
I wanted to go big!
So, I got out of my head (stop over-analyzing everything, Wendy) and into my heart (follow your intuition, Wendy) and decided to leap into creating the life I visualized in my mind and so desperately desired deep in my soul.
I realized that most of my life had been doing things because I thought that’s the way they had to be done. I realized I was doing things I thought other people wanted me to do. As a teenager, I wanted to be an entrepreneur but I thought it was too risky and I should do something more “stable”. So I did.
I went to Art school (because, I mean, that’s the real money maker right?) Ha!
Looking back, everything happened for me exactly as it was meant to. Going to Art school actually was my saving grace. After Art school I went back to university to get an Education degree and luckily, I landed a full-time position as an Art teacher in a 7-12 high school even before I finished my degree. I had a job waiting for me as soon as I graduated. Had it not been for the Art degree, I may still have been looking for a full-time teaching position.
“Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you.”
Having been a teacher for 15 years and counting, it has prepared me to be exactly where I am meant to be now. I have had so many rewarding years in the classroom. I’ve practiced and honed my skills in Art, speaking in front of people, planning, and leadership. All skills which are vital to running your own business.
But there was always this lingering dream of entrepreneurship that kept whispering in my ear, gentle reminders that it wasn’t done with me yet!
I started listening.
As I’ve been building my digital marketing business, I was reminded by my mentors that it’s one thing to make money and set yourself free, but it’s another to really know what to do with your life once you are free to really start doing what truly ignites your passion and purpose.
I had to dig deeper.
What was my purpose? What was the real reason for my time here?
No one could discover that passion for me. I had to do it for myself.
I realized that I’ve known it all along…
I wanted to help people.
I wanted to motivate people.
I wanted to empower people.
I wanted to make the world kinder.
I wanted to create an impact.
I wanted to use my life as a tool for change.
I wanted to leave a legacy.
Teaching and entrepreneurship are a natural combination to achieve all of that.
I love my career as a teacher so I wanted to find a way to continue being a teacher while still following my dream of owning my own business and creating my own Art.
Digital marketing has provided me with the vehicle to have the best of both worlds.
In truth, it actually lead me to a much more beautiful place. A place I didn’t expect to find.
It lead me to a community of positive, uplifting, like-minded entrepreneurs.
It lead me to people who were on my wavelength.
It lead me to a community of people who thrived on self-development and becoming the best possible versions of themselves, something I’ve been exploring since my early 20’s.
I thought I was looking to sell stuff online and create a residual income. I think if you’re a digital marketer, that’s how we all started our search... However, it has become so much bigger than that.
In just a few short months, through personal development and self-exploration, I have become a completely different person.
I’m no longer willing to ride the conveyor belt of life, going round and round in the same old routines. I knew that in order to make an impact I had to create the things I am truly passionate about. I had to be authentic. I had to show people that it’s ok to step outside the norm and enjoy life.
I was tired of ignoring my dreams.
I was tired of living in the shadows.
I was tired of living a shallow existence.
I was determined to offer myself to the world and impact the people who need to hear what I had to say.
I needed to light the fire of my soul and only allow people in who were willing to fan my flames.
Life is too short to play down to others who are not where you are. I don’t need people to “get” me. I don’t have to put my life on hold until people wake up and have the same epiphany I had and give me permission to live my life and say, “OK Wendy, I finally get where you’re coming from. You can start chasing your dreams now.”
Seriously… How ridiculous is that? Yet we wait for that permission, don’t we?
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
~ Howard Thurman
Don’t let anyone's lack of imagination cause you to abandon your dreams… Follow your heart. If you still need permission, I’m giving it to you right now. Get out there and make a difference.
Reach out to me and let me teach you how to live the life of your dreams. Not tomorrow. Right now.
Stop dreaming. Start doing.
